AMD A6-Series A6-3400M AM3400DDX43GXSpecificationsAMD A6-3400M APU was one of the first two mobile microprocessors from "A6-Series for Notebooks" family, introduced in June 2011. At the launch time, AMD also released 6 other dual- and quad-core models, all of them using newly announced Llano core. This processor is a part of Sabine platform, and it's aimed at mid-class mainstream notebooks. AMD Llano core is a combination of improved "Stars" (K10) CPU cores, and high-performance integrated graphics controller. The A6-3400M, manufactured on 32nm process, comes with four CPU cores, and has 128 KB level 1 and 1 MB level 2 caches per each core. The microprocessor runs at 1.4 GHz, although the new Turbo core feature can boost this frequency to 2.3 GHz when some cores are non-operational. The A6-3400M employs standard set of K10 instruction set extensions up to SSE3 / SSE4A, and common technologies, like AMD64 and Virtualization. Unlike previous generation of mobile AMD microprocessors, that had graphics processing unit (GPU) integrated in the chipset, the "Sabine" CPUs integrate graphics on a chip. The Radeon HD 6520G GPU on the AMD A6-3400M model has 400 MHz clock frequency, and it packs 320 shader units. These units can be utilized for 3D graphics acceleration, in which case the GPU can can perform on the same level as discreet graphics cards. When used for non-graphics computations, the combined performance of 320 shaders on this chip greatly surpasses performance of 4 CPU cores. In addition to CPU cores and the graphics unit, the AMD A6-3400M incorporates Universal Video Decoder (UVD) 3.0 and memory controller. The UVD is used to accelerate decoding of video data, including HD video. On-chip memory controller has two channels, and it supports standard and low-voltage DDR3 memory with data rates up to 1333 MHz. The A6-Series A6-3400M accommodates a handful of low-level
improvements, such as power gating, which purpose is to reduce processor's
power consumption. For instance, power gating is used to turn off
power for idle CPU cores, graphics processing unit and/or Universal
Video Decoder. The chip also supports a few low-power states. The
A6-3400M features 35 Watt Thermal Design Power, and that number
includes the power dissipated by all chip components. The CPU is
produced in a socket FS1-compatible PGA package.

FAST PROCESSOR2011-08-02 22:10:49 Posted by: STEVE GOT THIS PROCESSOR IN A TOSHIBA LAPTOP. USING FOR BUSINESS, GRAPHICS A WEB DESIGN. SO FAR HAS DONE EVERYTHING I ASKED OF IT. A beast2011-09-11 12:52:23 Posted by: Arrowslinger I was looking for a light gaming lap top boy was I surprised! yeah2011-09-26 00:12:55 Posted by: Zack Terrible processor my 8 month old intel i3 370m beats it on most benchmarks vs i3-23102011-09-29 09:48:40 Posted by: Guest "Terrible processor my 8 month old intel i3 370m beats it on most benchmarks"
2011-10-01 23:32:30 Posted by: Roberto True, most benchmarks, not all... And the difference is not that big between them to call the A6-3400m "terrible". Not bad at all!2011-10-06 21:15:06 Posted by: lulu If your look at the Windows 7 WEI, it does better than most out there. This Processor2011-10-26 17:51:35 Posted by: Timothy Coppock Is awesom got it overclocked in my laptop to 2.7ghz and kept under the thermal max....beats all the intel i3 series in all tests boo ya Best budget Laptop2011-10-27 12:53:17 Posted by: Bonabnz I'm using Asus A43TA A6-3400M with 1GB Radeon 6720G2. Uninformed people!2011-11-12 22:03:26 Posted by: JC Warpspeed Technologies This APU is FASTER than the Intel i7-2600 Google it for yourselves. You have no idea what you are talking about. It out performs Intel on EVERY gaming benchmark which is real life usage generally. So you kids go ahead and run your benchmarks designed to be run on Intel cores and We the adults...will simply smoke your cores to death in every game out there! Nice try Intel...but Your toast! Your going to have to buy nvidia to even get close! bye bye Intel!! 2011-11-29 21:19:45 Posted by: b.m. JC Warpspeed Technologies, the core i7 includes 2, 4 and 6 core types, exactly which number of cores are you specifying, and also, are you talking about the sandy bridge models? well..2011-12-14 19:28:10 Posted by: ultrakill intel cpu's are much faster with a dedicated gpu these apu's arent even fast enough to use there integrated gpu to full potential there is no comparison to intel hd graphics the apus are a millions times faster but an intel i3-i5-i7 with a dedicated gpu will eat an apu for breakfast lunch dinner and midnight snack i am not a "fanboy" as some may call it i do own an apu and an intel proc w/dedicated and the comment i see about "little boys" and adults/men is retarded these apu's are meant for people on a budget for people who cant afford a more expensive laptop with a dedicated gpu and the k10stat bs no one that isnt a moron would even overclock there laptop with limited budget cooling ive seen most of these laptops that these amd cpus come in there horrible and cheap with spraypainted clearcoat trackpads bendy flexy chassis and what not cheap as cheap can be sorry to blow anyones bubble 2011-12-26 00:37:15 Posted by: Darren K10 stat just lets all 4 cores run in the turbo mode. AMD have made the processor so that it usually runs only 2 cores in turbo mode or all 4 at base speed. They were generous with the voltages too so this can be achieved at a lower voltage than standard therefore having no increase in temperature. Too funny.2011-12-31 13:05:05 Posted by: Happy Himitsu I am guessing by the comments that nearly everyone here (especially the guy saying "you kids go ahead and...") is under 20 years of age with the mentality of a 15 year old. AMD A6- Series A6-34002012-01-02 19:29:22 Posted by: sandman I played games on this core that will not play on better grade computers & with the Radeon 6520 graphics the games look hd grade a great com. Can not be beat. Not a kid. Oit tech. stup2012-01-16 19:57:09 Posted by: chris this amd is great
Amazing high-value laptop processor2012-02-13 19:59:07 Posted by: Joe I bought a 14-inch Toshiba laptop, it's working like a champ. Only downside, it seems to not have drivers available yet for Linux, tried both Ubuntu 11.10 & Mint 12, they seem to not know how to handle this processor and GPU yet. 2012-02-25 12:22:42 Posted by: charlie scene i have an Intel i7-2760QM and the lowest frquency it runs is 2.4 GHz. When my turbo boost activates it goes to around 3.4GHz. I also have an nvidia video card.I CAN SMOKE ALL OF U GUYS!!!!! INTEL RULES!!!! APU crossfire2012-05-10 10:59:01 Posted by: Mike maybe an intel with a dedicated card is better then an APU. but how about an APU with an dedicated video card with crossfire(dual graphisc). I think is better then an intel + dedicated graphics :D
